One-Step Emergency Contraception
The One-Step emergency contraception from Plan B is a backup plan that helps to prevent pregnancy when taken as directed within the first 72 hours (3 days) after unprotected sex or failure of birth control. The sooner it’s taken, the better it works. Plan B One-Step is available to all women who need it and there is no age restriction for purchase or for use.
Plan B works by momentarily prolonging ovulation or the release of an egg from the ovary. No egg. No fertilization. No pregnancy. Plan B One-Step emergency contraceptive does not work if the user is already pregnant and also will not impact the pregnancy. Plus, it doesn't affect your ability to become pregnant in the future.
One-Step Emergency Contraceptive Features:
- After taking the Plan B tablet, you should resume your regular birth control method. If you don't already have one, start one.
- There is no prescription or age restriction to purchase Plan B in any U.S. state.
- Plan B One-Step does not protect you against HIV/AIDS or any other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
- Use as directed.
Warnings
The Plan B One Step Emergency Contraceptive contains levonorgestrel, in particular, the same hormone that is used in many other birth control pills; though, Plan B contains a much greater dose for a more effective result. Consume the pill orally within 24 hours of the time of occurrence. The earlier you take Plan B emergency contraceptive the better your chances are that the pill will work! Greatest of all, the pill has no impact on a woman's fertility.
Some women may experience side effects, which may include:

Some women taking Plan B One-Step may have changes in their period, such as spotting or bleeding, before their next period. If your period is more than a week late, you should get a pregnancy test and follow up with your healthcare professional.
